Samsung Galaxy S8 could feature dual rear camera set-up
The Galaxy S8 is expected to debut in the first half on 2017.
A recent post on Chinese social media Weibo by a tipster has leaked camera specifications of the next S series phone from Samsung, the Galaxy S8. The post says the upcoming flagship slated to be unveiled sometime during the first half of 2017 will have a rear dual camera set-up like the Honor 8.
This prediction may just be a rumour at this point but given that Apple is also planning a dual camera set-up for its 2017 iPhone, Samsung will not want to lag behind in that department. The post details specifications of the cameras saying the 12-megapixel sensor as seen on current Galaxy flagships will be accompanied by a 13 MP secondary sensor.
A secondary sensor is generally considered to enhance photos with better depth-of-field and more. The front camera of the S8 will also be getting an upgrade to an 8-megapixel camera compared to the S7 currently which has a 5-megapixel camera.
Prior to this, there were reports that the Galaxy S8 would introduce a 4K display to Samsung's smartphone lineup after the company showcased a number of next generation displays at the Display Week conference in San Francisco in May. The 4K UHD screen is expected to enhance the VR viewing experience.
Now that the Galaxy Note 7 has introduced the iris scanner for Samsung, the S8 can also be expected to be equipped with the same technology. Although there is no fixed date, the Galaxy S8 series may be launched early next year, most likely at the MWC 2017 event.
