Samsung Gear 2 to Feature Fleksy Keyboard for Sending and Responding to Messages
Gear 2 users can send and respond to text messages with Fleksy keyboard
Samsung's newly unveiled wearable device, the Gear 2 powered by Tizen operating system, will feature Fleksy touchscreen keyboard.
The Fleksy keyboard app developer recently announced that its touchscreen keyboard will be available for Samsung Gear 2, which was unveiled at the recent Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.
The Gear 2 features a 1.63in Super AMOLED display. Irrespective of its display size, Fleksy will allow users to type on Gear 2.
"Fleksy's patent-pending technology is uniquely positioned for wearable devices. Fleksy allows users to accurately type on any device, regardless of size, and we are very excited to work with Samsung to finally bring this unique technology to the Gear 2.0," said Ioannis Verdelis, COO of Fleksy.
Fleksy keyboard will enable Gear 2 users to send and respond to text messages from their wrist. Sending and replying to text messages on Gear 2 will work in a way similar to other smart devices. Besides, users will be able to access all contact information, messages and threads allowing them to compose, send and reply to messages from Gear 2 with the Fleksy keyboard.
"This is an important milestone in our mission to make touchscreen typing easier on wearable devices. We are now bridging the gap between your smartwatch and smartphone, making it easier for you to communicate directly from your wrist," added Ioannis.
Users can enjoy the Fleksy touchscreen keyboard on their Gear 2 when it launches, which is expected at the end of this month.
The Gear 2 along with Gear 2 Neo and Gear Fit are expected to become available from week 14 of 2014, that is, from the 31st of this month. Besides, the wearable devices will be rolled out to the market a week before the Galaxy S5 becomes available globally. The Gear 2 is expected to carry a price tag that is lower than the original Galaxy Gear.
