Serena Williams shares adorable photo of daughter Alexis Olympia from her wedding day
Tennis champ married Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian on 16 November in New Orleans.
It is frowned upon to try and outdo the bride on at her wedding, but it seems that Serena Williams had no qualms about her daughter taking centre stage on her big day.
The tennis champion exchanged vows with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian at the Contemporary Performing Arts Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Thursday 16 November.
Although the likes of Beyonce and Eva Longoria attended the Beauty and The Beast-themed nuptials, two-month-old Alexis Olympia was the guest of honour.
Taking to Instagram, the 36-year-old sports star shared a snap of her little girl ,sitting on her grandma Oracene Price's lap, with her 7.1million followers.
She captioned the touching picture taken after Price walked her granddaughter down the aisle: "My heartbeats photo."
Fans of the 23-time Grand Slam winner flocked to the comment section to gush about the image.
"OMG! JUS FREAKIN BEAUTIFUL #PRICELESS" one person said, while another wrote: "This is just a beautiful picture. Makes my heart melt. Xc"
Shortly after becoming a first-time mom, Williams penned an open letter to her own mother, voicing concern about raising her child in a judgemental world.
"You are one of the strongest women I know. I was looking at my daughter (OMG, yes, I have a daughter) and she has my arms and legs! My exact same strong, muscular, powerful, sensational arms and body. I don't know how I would react if she has to go through what I've gone through since I was a 15 year old and even to this day," she said.
"I've been called man because I appeared outwardly strong. It has been said that that I use drugs (No, I have always had far too much integrity to behave dishonestly in order to gain an advantage). It has been said I don't belong in Women's sports — that I belong in Men's — because I look stronger than many other women do. (No, I just work hard and I was born with this badass body and proud of it).
