Shereka Marsh: Family Say Gang Rumours Are 'Hurtful'
The family of Shereka Fab-Ann Marsh have denied claims their daughter was 'involved with gangs or violence'.
The 15-year-old was shot in the neck at a house in Eastway, Hackney Wick, on Saturday afternoon.
Emergency services tried to resuscitate Marsh but she died at the scene.
A boy,15, has appeared at Stratford Youth Court charged with her murder and possessing a firearm.
The girl's family released a statement through their local MP Meg Hillier stating that any claim she had links to gangs was "hurtful".
The statement said: "Shereka Marsh was a lovely typical, bubbly outgoing teenager with lots of friends.
"She was not involved in gangs or violence. She did not drink or take drugs. Her mother always knew where she was.
"Shereka was a responsible, hard-working young woman with so much to look forward to."
Jules Pipe, the mayor of Hackney, said Shereka's "devastating" death had sent shockwaves through the community in Hackney.
