The Simpson season 27 episode 10 will not air on 20 March: Smithers will come out as gay in The Burns Cage
The Simpsons season 27 will go on a brief hiatus and will return with a new episode on 3 April at 8pm ET/PT on Fox. Episode 10 is titled, The Burns Cage which will finally focus on Waylon Smithers and his feelings towards his boss Charles Montgomery Burns.
Smithers sexuality has been a topic of debate in The Simpsons ever since the show hinted that he has feelings for his boss, Mr Burns. Smithers is his loyal personal assistant and has been working at the Nuclear Power Plant for almost 26 years (which is as long as the show itself).
Although entire Springfield knows he is gay, Smithers will finally come clean about his feelings to his boss in the upcoming chapter. The official synopsis for episode 17 reads as follows:
Judging by the synopsis, Burns will break Smithers' heart, following which Homer will make it a personal mission to find a boyfriend for him. He will try a dating app to find a perfect match. The episode will also find Bart, Lisa and Millhouse in a stage production of Casablanca.
Previously executive producer Al Jean admitted that Burns did not know that Smithers is gay. He told TV Line, "In Springfield now, most people know he's gay, but obviously Burns doesn't. We deal with that in two episodes… We actually do a lot with Smithers this year; he gets fed up with Burns not appreciating him and considers his options."
To find out how Smithers comes clean to his boss, do not miss the coming out episode of The Simsons season 27, which will air on 3 April.
