Six killed following major avalanche in Italian Alps
A massive avalanche in the Italian Alps has killed at least 6 people and rescuers are searching for several others, according to AFP. The avalanche happened on Monte Nevoso in South Tyrol, near the Austrian border, on Saturday 12 April. Two of those confirmed dead were trying to climb the summit, despite a "marked" risk of avalanche of 3 in the area at the time, in a scale where 5 indicates a strong risk.
As many as 10 people could be buried following the cascade, which happened on Monte Nevoso in the South Tyrol. Rescue teams are currently searching for survivors using a helicopter and dog teams.
