Snap White: The coffee machine that prints selfies on your latte
We have all seen the dragons and love hearts that are carefully created on the silky foam on top of our lattes that baristas spend hours crafting only for drinkers to throw a sachet of sugar on top and ruin the whole masterpiece.
Imagine then that you could nurse your morning coffee and see your own face staring back at you. This is now a reality with the Ripple Maker than can print selfies on coffee froths using specially designed ripple pods.
Steam CC the Tel Aviv company behind the machine say that you can print anything on your latte in ten seconds and the natural coffee bean pods will add a whole new dimension to drinks without affecting coffee flavour.
Like Instagram for your coffee, you can upload any image to the Ripple Maker using an iOS or Android app where you can choose from a whole range of designs or customise your version before letting the machine do its job. The design, known as a ripple, is then printed using patented 3D technology.
As Yossi Meshulam, CEO of Steam CC, parent of Ripples, said ""Latte art is one of the most shared images on social media. We're taking latte art to a whole new level,."
With the likes of Lufthansa Airlines already installing the machines in their first and business class lounges for flyers to enjoy a personalised beverage before take-off, the brand is definitely making ripples in the coffee world and it will only be a while before the first caffeine-based marriage proposal is printed onto someone's cappuccino.
The product is aimed primarily at business and coffee shops as the Ripple Maker does not come cheap. With an upfront cost of $999 (£634) and a monthly subscription fee of $75 (£47), it is only available in the US and Canada, and may not be one for the kitchen counter just yet.
However, there is a waiting list for international orders online so you can register your interest early and get printing soon. Until then, if you are in the US you can use your app to find the machine closest to you.
