Preview

Great Britain face defending men's Olympic curling champions Canada on Friday following the two rink's contrasting run to the final.

While Canada qualified after seven wins from their nine round robin matches, including a 7-5 win over Great Britain, David Murdoch's quartet have done it the hard way to reach the sharp end of the competition.

Murdoch was first forced to produce an inspired final stone to see off Norway in a play-off to reach the semi-final, before repeating the heroics in the win over world champions Sweden.

Though GB enter the contest as underdogs, their win over Sweden gives them reason to believe they can become the British male curling gold medalists, following Rhona Martin's victory in Salt Lake City in 2002.

Led by Brad Jacobs, a silver medallist in the 2013 world championships, Canada have swept all aside in the round robin, only losing to Sweden and Switzerland, prior to thumping China with a three at the 10th end in the semi-final.

Canada continue to trail the likes of United States and Norway in the overall medal table and another gold would be valuable in attempting to finish in the top three, while a gold for Britain would mark the nation's most successful Winter Olympics.

Both rink's will be hoping to follow their female counterpart's success, with the Team GB women claiming bronze, while Canada led by Jennifer Jones won gold with 11 successive wins.
