Sochi Winter Olympics 2014: Illustrators Back Gay Rights in Russia
With the 2014 Winter Olympics on us, millions of people are waiting to see whether Russia will enforce its law banning gay "propaganda" to minors if athletes, fans or activists wave rainbow flags or speak out in protest.
The International Olympic Committee has reminded athletes that "no kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic sites".
President Vladimir Putin has assured gays they will be welcome in Sochi but only if they "leave the kids alone."
Internationally, LGBT groups have staged events to highlight what they describe as the systematic oppression of Russian gays and lesbians. Further protests are expected, both within Russia and around the world, once the Games kick off.
Illustration agency Anna Goodson asked artists to show their support for gay rights in Russia. In this gallery, IBTimesUK showcases 12 of our favourite designs. See Anna Goodson for many more.
