Sony reveals Android 6.0 Marshmallow upgrade plans for Xperia range
With Google commencing the global rollout of its sweet Android Marshmallow treatment starting with its Nexus lineup, Sony has revealed the software upgrade plan for its Xperia editions. The company has not given a specific time frame for the release, but says it is working on bringing the upgrade as quickly as possible.
The newly unveiled Xperia Z5 series including Z5 Compact and Z5 Premium will receive the new software that comes with Android version 6.0. The Z4 Tablet, Z3+, Z3 Compact, Z3 Tablet Compact, Z2 and Z2 Tablet are also in line for the upgrade. A few mid-rangers such as Xperia M5, C5 Ultra, M4 Aqua and C4 also make it to the list. Sony has left out its 2013 handsets Xperia Z, Z1, Z1 Compact and Z Ultra, which means Android Lollipop is the last major Android upgrade for them.
"We've been working hard to bring this major update to as many of our devices as possible, as quickly as we can. We're really excited about the new Sony features & functionality and the improvements we've made to the user experience – and we'll be sharing more soon... so stay tuned to the blog and SonyMobileNews for all the latest news on timings and features," states Sony in its blog.
