Sony Xperia Z4, Z4 Compact, Z4 Ultra and Z4 Tablet Specs Leaked: Next-Gen Xperia Family

Sony's plan for the next-gen Xperia series devices, including a flagship smartphone and its variants, and a tablet, has leaked along with hardware details.

Sony's next addition to the Xperia series flagship, the Xperia Z4, has been in the news for some time now, with leaks suggesting that the smartphone will be the only offering from Sony for 2015. There would be no bi-annual models, which started with the Xperia Z and Z1.

Xperia Z4

While the tech specs of Xperia Z4 have already emerged, Android Origin has other details and exclusively reports that the next flagship model will come with Qi-wireless charging support, unlike the magnetic charging port which Sony has been using since the first generation Xperia Z smartphone was released in 2013.

Xperia Z has been criticised for the microUSB port flaps which loosen over a period of time, thereby impacting the water resistance capability of the device. The Xperia Z4 will not face this issue as there will be no flaps for the microUSB port, like the Galaxy S5 Mini.

This does not mean the Xperia Z4 will not be resistant to water. It will still have the same IP68 certification like its predecessor.

Xperia Z4 Compact and Xperia Z4 Ultra

Like always, along with the flagship models, Sony will ensure that its variants also offer the same experience to users from different segments. The report further states that Xperia Z4 will be accompanied by its cousins like Z4 Compact and Z4 Ultra.

The Z4 Compact will sport a 4.6in screen but have higher resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels with upgrade hardware. As for the Z4 Ultra, the handset will have a similar screen size as the first Z Ultra - 6.4in with either Quad-HD or, 4K resolution.

Xperia Z4 Tablet

The Z4 series will also have a tablet apart from the large-screen model, dubbed the Xperia Z4 Tablet with 10.1in Quad HD display.

Sony is reportedly testing a 3840 x 2160 panel but the final product is more likely to ship with Quad-HD instead of 4K. It will feature the similar design language of Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, but with much thinner bezels compared to the previous models which pack giant bezels around.

There will be twin stereo speakers inherited from the Z3 Tablet Compact. Besides, the new tablet edition will be one of the most compact and light Android tablets ever.

Coming to the hardware part, the Z4 Tablet will follow the footprint of Xperia Z4 smartphone with the same Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage. Other notable specs include a 13 megapixel rear-camera or a slightly higher resolution sensor and an eight megapixel front camera.
