South Africa bowler Dale Steyn ruled out of third Test against England with shoulder injury
South Africa bowler Dale Steyn has been ruled out of the third Test against England due to an ongoing shoulder problem.
Steyn initially suffered the injury in the first Test of the series in Durban in December, which ruled him out of the second match in Cape Town.
It is the latest in a string of injury setbacks for the 32-year-old who has missed five of his last seven Tests but head coach Russell Domingo insists his latest knock should not be looked upon as a long-term problem.
"I don't think it's the end of Dale Steyn," Domingo said. "All players will experience some sort of niggles. He is a great athlete. He is as fit as they can come. We know he is a great bowler. He is the best bowler in the world. We haven't had him since the first Test in India tour and that has been disappointing."
The second Test in Cape Town ended with a draw with England holding a slender advantage having won the opener. The third Test begins in Johannesburg on Thursday 14 January.
