Overview
South Africa's home summer has gone from good to brilliant as they beat Australia by four wickets in the third ODI on 5 October to win the five-match 3-0. In fact, this was the hosts' first bilateral series win over Australia in seven years, with the last one coming in 2009.
Set a massive 372 to win, the hosts turned the impossible to possible, thanks to a brilliant unbeaten 118-run knock by David Miller. Miller's 118 came off just 79 balls and included 10 fours and six hits over the fence.
The southpaw got good support from Andile Phehlukwayo, who made 42 off 39 balls in what was just his fourth appearance for the Proteas. The performances of the duo masked the deficiencies of the bowlers who had a bad day at the office, with Dale Steyn in particular coming in for a thrashing, giving away 96 runs off his 10 overs.
South Africa will be without Wayne Parnell who has been ruled out of the series due to a rib injury while David Miller will also be missing due to an injured groin. Kyle Abbott and Farhaan Behardien are most likely to replace the duo in the eleven.
Australia's struggles in the series continued on Wednesday with their bowlers finding it difficult to contain the South African batsmen for the third consecutive time in the series. None of the bowlers used had an economy rate of under six, which has been a pattern throughout their tour of South Africa.
Earlier in the day, their batsmen led by skipper Steve Smith and David Warner who scored 108 and 117 respectively helped the team post 371. But their bowlers failed to support the batsmen once again.
Chris Tremain and Daniel Worrall again struggled, which means that Scott Boland and Joe Mennie might come in their place for Sunday's game.
