Southampton v Manchester City, Premier League 2014/15: Where to Watch Live, Preview, Betting Odds and Possible XI
Second placed Southampton host Manchester City at St Mary's on Sunday, 30 November as they look to extend their impressive run in the Premier League and close-in on Chelsea.
Where to Watch Live
Kick off is set for 1:30pm GMT. Live coverage will be available on Sky Sports 1 and Sky Sports HD 1.
Overview
Southampton are flying high in the league this season, currently in second place, above the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal. A win here will take The Saints to second spot, just four points behind Chelsea, an impressive feat given the side were dismantled this season by the outflow of players and the change in management.
A lot of pundits had written them off following the deluge of exits, but manager Ronald Koeman has turned the tide since taking over from Mauricio Pochettino, who is struggling to find his feet at Tottenham.
Their last game ended in a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa, ending a series of five wins on the trot in all competition for Southampton and will be willing to get back on their winning ways against a City side who are knackered after a high intensity game against Bayern Munich midweek.
Meanwhile, the reigning Champions need a win here to close the gap on Chelsea, who drew 0-0 against Sunderland on Saturday. Their 3-2 win over Bayern will give them a major push in the arm after a series of insipid performances in the Premier League and in Europe.
Manuel Pellegrini is under pressure to perform and having given himself a lifeline in the Champions League, will be looking to replicate the same in England and get back into the race to retain his title.
What Managers Say
Ronald Koeman: "These are the best games you can play and we should enjoy the challenge. Every person can have his own opinion about the team, but I think we have a good team with a good organisation. We have played against 12 teams now and I have not seen one team that is better than we are."
Manuel Pellegrini: "They are a good team with very good players and they're playing very well. It's no surprise they are where they are. Ronald Koeman has lost four or five players but they are still a good team and that's a merit to him. It will be a tough game."
