Southern Rail strike: Which services are running during the three-day walkout?
The strike will begin on Tuesday 18 October with trains cancelled across south-east England.
Southern Railway passengers face further travel chaos this week with another three-day strike by union members.
Southern and the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers union (RMT) are involved in a dispute over the role of guards and the introduction of more driver-only operated trains.
The strike will begin at 00:01 on Tuesday 18 October and end at 23:59 on Thursday 20 October, during which hundreds of trains will be cancelled across south-east England.
Which services will not be running during the strike?
No Southern trains will operate in either direction on the following routes:
- Clapham Junction to Milton Keynes via Kensington Olympia (London Overground and London Midland services will still operate as normal)
- Leatherhead to Guildford (South West Trains services will operate)
- Oxted to Uckfield (we intend to operate buses at peak times between Uckfield/Buxted/Crowborough/Eridge and Tunbridge Wells/Haywards Heath (for train connections to/from London)
- Wivelsfield to Lewes
- Preston Park to Hove
- Eastbourne to Hastings and Ashford International (Southeastern services will operate between St Leonards Warrior Square and Hastings as normal, buses will operate between Ashford International and Hastings and between Hastings and Eastbourne)
- Chichester to Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central (South West Trains and Great Western Railway services will operate between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour/Southampton Central as normal, buses will operate between Chichester and Havant)
- Redhill to Tonbridge (buses will operate buses on this route – during peak hours only)
- Between Lewes and Seaford (buses will operate buses on this route)
- Redhill to Reigate (Great Western Railway services will operate on this route as normal)
- Earlswood, Salfords and Faygate stations will not be served
Which routes will run a limited service?
A limited service will operate in both directions on the following routes:
- Between approx. 07.30 and 22.30: London Bridge - Norwood Junction - East Croydon - Sanderstead - Riddlesdown - Upper Warlingham - Woldingham - Oxted - Hurst Green - Lingfield - Dormans - East Grinstead
- Between approx. 07.30 and 18.30: Three Bridges - Crawley - Ifield - Littlehaven - Horsham - Christs Hospital - Billingshurst - Pulborough - Amberley - Arundel - Ford - Barnham - Chichester (note that the last trains from London to Three Bridges connecting with this route will be at approximately 16:30 to some stations)
- Between approx. 07.30 and 18.30: Brighton - Hove - Aldrington - Portslade - Fishersgate - Southwick - Shoreham - Lancing - East Worthing - Worthing - West Worthing - Durrington - Goring - Angmering - Littlehampton - Ford - Barnham - Bognor Regis (note that the last connecting trains from London to Brighton will be at approximately 16.30)
- Between approx. 07.30 and 22.30: Brighton - London Road - Moulsecoomb - Falmer - Lewes - Glynde - Berwick - Polegate - Hampden Park – Eastbourne
- Very limited peak hour service only: Uckfield - Buxted - Crowborough - Eridge - Ashurst - Cowden - Hever - Edenbridge Town - Hurst Green - Oxted - East Croydon - London Bridge
Trains will depart Uckfield for London Bridge at 08:04 and 08:34
Trains will depart London Bridge for Uckfield at: 16:08 and 16:38 - Between Dorking and Horsham
However, the following London Victoria services will not run between Dorking and Horsham:
0756 London Victoria – Horsham will terminate at Dorking at 0847
1331 London Victoria – Horsham will terminate at Dorking 1424
1617 London Victoria – Horsham will terminate at Dorking 1716
1647 London Victoria – Horsham will terminate at Dorking 1745
0909 Horsham – London Victoria will start from Dorking at 0931
1504 Horsham – London Victoria will start from Dorking at 1526
1804 Horsham – London Victoria will start from Dorking at 1826
1833 Horsham – London Victoria will start from Dorking at 1855
When are the upcoming strikes?
After this week, there are several strikes planned until the end of 2016.
- Thursday 3 November to Saturday 5 November.
- Thursday 3 November to Saturday 5 November.
- Tuesday 6 December to Thursday 8 December.
