A 32-year-old woman in Spain was killed by her partner after the couple reportedly missed a flight to Italy on Wednesday (1 June). The incident took place at the San Pablo Airport in Seville.

The 34-year-old is reported to have left his girlfriend's body in an abandoned car in the airport parking lot, but later returned with police officers to lead them to the dead body. He has been arrested and an investigation is on into the incident.

The couple, said to be Romanian nationals, got into a heated argument after missing their flight, following which the man allegedly strangled the woman to death at the parking lot and left the scene and the body in the car, the Spanish edition of The Local reported, citing Spanish newspaper Diario de Sevilla. However, he surrendered himself to the local police in Bollullos Par del Condado, a town and municipality located in the province of Huelva in Spain.

The man had reportedly lived for a few months in that town and worked at a circus near the municipality.

The local police informed the Spanish Civil Guard of the incident, who then accompanied the suspect and local police to the crime scene. The homicide unit of the National Police is currently investigating the case, which the Spanish daily termed as the first case of male violence in Seville in 2016.
