Spain's Charming Princess Letizia Turns to Her Favorite Colour Red at Euro 2012: Was She a Head Turner? [PHOTOS]

Spain's charming Princess Letizia is known for donning bold red dresses in public or even for official overseas visits. Often compared to Kate Middleton for her style statements, Princess Letizia is inarguably one of the best looking royals in red clothes.

After over a week of taking the Portuguese in a storm of fashion during her three-day official visit to Portugal along with her husband, Spain's Crown Prince Felipe, Princess Letizia showed off her glam quotient at aGroup C Euro 2012 football match between Spain and Italy held in Gdansk on Sunday.

Princess Letizia was a headturner at the match, as she took off her long jacket, only to reveal a vibrant scarlet top, which she wore over a pair of ash-coloured trousers.

A former TV journalist, Princess Letizia took the cloudy weather in style as she let her hair loose and stylish. Her V-neck, three- fourth sleeve red top gave her a chic and glamorous, yet sporty outlook.

Princess Letizia has been noticed for wearing even red formal skirt dresses in the past – and she looks gorgeous, undoubtedly, every time she opts for red.

Wearing vibrant red hues during official visits abroad or for any royal ceremony seems to be the craze among royals. Kate Middleton has donned red at many occasions from her first overseas visit as a royal to Canada last July to the most recent Thames Flotilla during the diamond jubilee weekend celebrations to mark 60 years of Queen Elizabeth's reign.

Princess Letizia has in no way lagged behind in keeping up to the trend. She may be called one of the pioneers in bringing up this trend with royals, indeed. Much before Kate Middleton got into the spotlight for her royal connection and fashion statements, Princess Letizia wowed fashionistas in a floor-length red gown, which she wore to a gala performance in Stockholm in June 2010, to celebrate the wedding of Sweden's crown Princess Victoria and Daniel Westling.

An official visit to Chile in November last year was yet another occasion at which, the Spanish Princess wore a bright red knee-length skirt and long-sleeved glittery red jacket.

Princess Letizia also wore a red dress to a dinner with visiting Ireland's President Mary McAleese at the Royal palace in Madrid in March 2011.
