Spanish Super Copa First-Leg, Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid: Where to Watch Live, Preview and Team News
Real Madrid host city rivals Atletico Madrid in the first-leg of the Spanish Super Copa match at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.
Where to Watch Live
Kick-off is set for 10 pm BST on Tuesday. Live coverage is on Sky Sports 5 and Sky Sports 5 HD.
Overview
It is a replay of the Champions League final, when Real take on arch rivals Atletico in the first leg of the Spanish Super Copa.
The European Champions come into this game on the back of a convincing win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup and will look to take advantage of home conditions and take a lead to the Vicente Calderon for the second leg. However, apart from that one win, Real have had a poor pre-season, having lost all their four friendly matches.
Carlo Ancelotti will have a full squad of players to select from and new signings James Rodrigues and Toni Kroos could lineup alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karin Benzema.
Meanwhile, Atletico are coming onto this match on the back of a successful pre-season, and will want some payback to make up for the loss in the Champions League final. The La Liga champions have a much changed front line this season, after the departures of top scorer Diego Costa and Spanish international David Villa.
Diego Simeone has bolstered his squad and Mario Mandzukic, who joined from Bayern Munich, is a certain starter and Frenchman Antoine Griezmann also could feature in the game.
What Manager Say
Carlo Ancelotti (Real Madrid): "What I won't do is put out the same team in both legs. One team will play tomorrow and on Friday I will change it a little. There are no favourites in this tie. It is a two-leg tie, 180 minutes, and we have to prepare well. The first match will not be decisive but we will try and take the lead and put in a good performance."
Diego Simeone (Atletico Madrid): "The objective, talking about the Supercopa, is to try to get the game to where we want it, and obviously win it. Regarding the league, we have four different players with respect to last year. It's a major change, because their characteristics are not the same and the adaptation time is very short."
