Overview
Sri Lanka suffered their second defeat of the ongoing ODI series in the fifth match on Wednesday as England managed a five-wicket victory at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
It was Joe Root's unbeaten century that has kept the Three Lions' hopes of winning the series alive. The middle order batsman, along with James Taylor pulled England out of trouble and helped avoid yet another loss during their Sri Lanka tour.
After the fifth match, the Lankans are leading 3-2 and another victory will help them seal the series. A defeat for them will give a chance for England to make a comeback as the outcome of the seven-match series will be decided in Colombo next week.
