Stanislas Wawrinka vs Alessandro Giannessi, US Open 2016: Where to watch live, preview and betting odds
Wawrinka and Giannessi are meeting for the first time in an ATP tournament.
Stanislas Wawrinka takes on Alessandro Giannessi in the men's singles second round of the 2016 US Open on Thursday (1 September).
Where to watch live
Match starts at 9pm BST. Live coverage of the game will be available in the UK on British Eurosport and Eurosport HD. Live scores and regular updates will be available on US Open's official website.
Overview
Swiss third seed Wawrinka started his US Open campaign in style, beating Fernando Verdasco 7-6(4) 6-4 6-4 in straight sets to book a place in the second round. Wawrinka hit 30 winners in the game and scored seven aces as he swept the Spaniard, having trailed him 3-2 in the last five times they met in ATP tournaments.
Verdasco was no pushover as he had won 12 of his 13 first round games in the US Open. However, Wawrinka proved too much for the Spanish international and will now look to overcome Giannessi in what is expected to be a compelling second round fixture.
Giannessi is the underdog coming into the game, having had a career high ranking of 143 and made hard work of his match against Denis Kudla, who forced him into five sets. The Italian lost the first set 6-0, but bounced back in the next two sets and returned the favour by hitting Kudla for a blank in the last set to clinch the match.
