Star Wars 7 plot: Galactic civil war to rage 30 years after the Battle of Endor in The Force Awakens?
Star Wars 7 is just two months away from its grand premiere and fans are anticipating a major showdown between Luke Skywalker and Kylo Ren. But new rumours about the plot of The Force Awakens hint at severe political unrest in space leading to another Galactic civil war, 30 years after the Battle of Endor.
Disney/Lucasfilm has been deeply secretive about production and post production of the highly anticipated space thriller, but recent rumours suggest that fans are in for some powerful battle sequences. Making Star Wars reports that Supreme leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) will start to tempt the Republic's senate (which was set up after the Return Of The Jedi) and will succeed in doing so due to the extreme greed of the galactic politicians who lust for the wealth they enjoyed during the time of the Imperial Senate.
In the sixth instalment of the space opera, the First Order and the Republic sign treaties to restrict the former group to the Outer Rim. Princess General Leia Organa, meanwhile, forms her own secret Resistance army in order to be ready for any possible attack from the evil power-hungry groups.
Latest rumours suggest that General Organa will play a key role when another civil war erupts in space. It remains to be seen how the political angle will be played out in the movie, which is hyped as a battle between the Jedi Master Luke and Kylo Ren (who is deeply influenced by the Dark Lord Darth Vader).
In the past few months the JJ Abrams-directed movie suffered a series of major leaks, including that of its synopsis and scene descriptions. However, none of those were confirmed by the movie producers and crew members.
According to a leaked synopsis, the ruthless prince Kylo, who is obsessed with power, will frantically search for a lightsaber (which apparently belongs to Luke) that tumbles out of space into the planet of Jakku. This will lead to an epic journey as the runaway soldier Finn and space scavenger Rey will acquire the lightsaber. The duo will embark on a journey to find the Jedi Master who is living in self-imposed exile.
Star Wars 7 is the first of a new trilogy starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker alongside Andy Serkis, Max von Sydow, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver and Domhnall Gleeson, plus relative newcomers and British actors John Boyega and Daisy Ridley. The Force Awakens will premiere on 16 December 2015.
