Stefan Appleton murder: 2 teenagers in court accused of brutal Islington stabbing
Two teenagers accused of murdering Stefan Appleton in Caldy Walk, Islington, will today (Wednesday, 17 June ) appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court.
The 16-year-old boys, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were arrested on 13-14 June along with three other boys of the same age who have since been bailed to a date to be confirmed.
Police were called just after 6pm on Wednesday, 10 June, to reports of a man stabbed in Caldy Walk.
Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London's Air Ambulance attended the scene and took Appleton to a north London hospital where he later died at 7.45pm.
A post-mortem examination to place on Friday, (12 June) at Poplar Mortuary and gave the cause of death as shock and haemorrhage due to a stab wound to the chest.
Detectives have established that Stefan was in Nightingale Park with friends when two youths pulled up on a moped.
The pillion passenger on the moped attacked Stefan – stabbing him a number of times with a large bladed knife before making off on the moped along Nightingale Road.
