With very few matches remaining in this season, both teams will be looking to register a win in this one although Liverpool are the favourites on paper.

Liverpool, who have only won one match in 2012, have done pretty poorly after having a good start to the season. Coming out of a disappointing draw and two back-to back defeats against Tottenham, Manchester United and Arsenal respectively the Reds will be looking to register their second win against the Black Cats.

Sunderland, on the other hand, also come after two back-to-back and a draw against Arsenal, West Brom and Newcastle respectively. In spite of these recent losses the Black Cats have done fairly well under their new manager Martin O'Neill. The suspensions of Stéphane Sessègnon (their lead scorer) and Lee Cattermole are a bit of a concern for the Black Cats, who will be looking for a positive result in this match.
