Sunderland take on Manchester United in a weekend Premier League clash at the Stadium of Light on Saturday, 13 February.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 12:45pm GMT. Live coverage is on BT Sport 1. Radio commentary of the game is available on BBC Radio 5 Live. Catch the highlights of the match on Match of the Day on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10:30pm GMT.

Overview

Sunderland enter the fixture coming from behind against Liverpool to score two goals in less than 10 minutes in the final quarter of the match to settle for a 2-2 draw at Anfield. That saw the Black Cats avoid another league defeat and their last result should help them mentally for a home clash against the Red Devils.

Sam Allardyce is aware of United's style of play and he needs to make sure his defensive players do not commit any errors, which could potentially lead to a goal. Sunderland will be looking to frustrate the visitors as they are aware it will be more of possession-based play.

United come into the fixture after settling for a 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the last outing. Jesse Lingard scored an impressive goal at Stamford Bridge in the second half, only for Diego Costa to equalise in the dying moments of the match to help his side avoid a defeat.

It will be crucial for Louis van Gaal and his side to register a victory over Sunderland on Saturday. A failure to seal three points could put a huge dent on their hope of finishing the season in the top four.

What Managers Say

Sam Allardyce: "He [Adam Johnson] will not be available for this weekend. I don't know. We'll see how it goes beyond that [if he will play for Sunderland again]."

Louis van Gaal: "Of course, the Glazers are disappointed. Ed Woodward is disappointed and I am also disappointed because we are now further away from the top. If they are thinking that they want to replace me, they have to prepare and they have to enquire, that is what I think. But if it is like that, they have to say it to me. And I believe they will tell me if it is like that."
