Uber Cup

Final – China vs Korea

Defending champions China take on Korea in the final of the Uber Cup after thrashing India 3-0 in the semi-finals. The Chinese are the favourites to win what will be their 14th Uber Cup trophy and it showed when they faced off against the Saina Nehwal-lead team on Friday (20 May).

The Chinese are yet to lose a tie in the Uber Cup, maintaining their record as Li Xuerui, Wang Shixian and co ran through their opponents. They will be banking on them to beat Korea's top shuttlers when they face off on Saturday (21 May).

Korea, on the other hand, came through a tough fixture against Japan in the semi-finals beating them 3-1. Victories for Sung Ji Hyun, Jung Kyung Eun and Shin Seung Chan put them on course only for them to suffer a scare with Akane Yamaguchi retiring thereby putting Japan back in the game.

The doubles pair of Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee, however, ensured that they got through. In the end, the Koreans got though to come into this tie as the underdogs in what is going to be an exciting clash against arguably the best badminton team in the world.
