Thor 3 Ragnarok plot rumours: Thor gets visions of his death and a fallen Asgard in Avengers 2?
How do you think will Thor's storyline play out in Avengers 2 and in what way will it carry forward to Thor 3: Ragnarok? This question has been playing on the minds of fans as Ragnarok could be Thor's last solo film.
Several theories around the plot of Thor 3 are circulating on the web - and here's a compilation of what fans can really expect; based on Chris Hemsworth's recent statements, fan-theories and speculations.
During a recent interview for Avengers: Age of Ultron, Slash Film asked Hemsworth how much connection he will have with Asgard post the ending of Thor 2, which had Loki disguised as Thor's father Odin, sitting on the throne.
"Up until kind of the third act or sort of halfway through he begins to have suspicions about what's going on here or what this bigger picture is here and who's involved. He doesn't know by the end of it but he starts to think something's not right here, which certainly points his focus back there," Hemsworth replied.
One of the key characters to link the story plots is Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who has the ability to prompt nightmares on each member of the Avengers, reports Yibada. Maybe one such nightmare gives Thor a vision of a destroyed, post-war Asgard that's rumoured to feature in Thor 3.
"I think it certainly creates a conflict. It's more kind of within their individual selves rather than the team so much. I think they'll begin to have their fears held up in front of them. For Thor, I think it's a corruption of power."
"It's hard to even say what it will be in Thor's dream sequence but it kicks in motion his movement. That's where he really starts to kind of move through the story. Once that dream occurs he goes, 'Oh, I can see what's coming and my fear could be true' so yeah, it's a ticking clock," added Hemsworth.
His words "corruption of power" fuels one particular fan theory, which suggests that after Odin's death, Thor gets so consumed by power, that it leads to Asgard's destruction and ultimately his own death. Click here to read more about it.
Fans are speculating on Thor's future as to whether he will face his death or not. Reddit user Luneytunes shared some thoughts.
"I think Chris Hemsworth/Thor will make it to 'Avengers: Infinity Wars - Part 1.' There is a shot in the previous 'Age of Ultron' trailer that shows Captain America's shield broken. If you look closely you will see Thor's arm also," Luneytunes said.
"I think [that scene] is the future shown by Scarlet Witch - and is his and possibly Steve Rogers' death," the user continued.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is set to premiere in theatres on 1 May this year, while Thor 3: Ragnarok will be released on 3 November 2017.
