Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black plant tree to commemorate their marriage
The newlyweds said the sapling was a symbol of 'all the adventures to come' as they embark on married life.
After tying the knot at a lavish ceremony at Bovey Castle on Saturday (6 May) newlyweds Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black have planted a tree to commemorate their marriage.
Posting a picture on Instagram of himself holding up a red leaf, the Olympic diver said it was a symbolic gesture to mark the beginning of their new life together, and 'all the adventures to come'.
Dustin also posted a photo of the sapling on his Instagram account with a caption in which he shared the joys of life as a newlywed.
"Married life so far: 1) Plant trees to mark the beginning of all our new adventures? DONE.
"2) Paint the living room? DONE'"
'3) Wipe that silly grin off my damn face? NO WAY."
Earlier the 22-year-old Olympic diver uploaded a photo of him and his new husband, 42, walking down the aisle under a shower of confetti as he shared his joy at marrying "the love of his life."
The gushing caption read: "On 6th May 2017, I married the love of my life, @dlanceblack ❤️ We shared the day with 120 of our closest friends and family, from Texarkana to Plymouth! Thank you to everyone who made this weekend the most special weekend of our lives!"
More details of the wedding have emerged as guests revealed that the lavish nuptials featured personal touches including the wedding cake which was made by Tom himself, while guests were treated to a three-course meal comprising classic British dishes of beef wellington, sausage and mash and Eton Mess.
The celebrations continued into the early hours and included an extravagant fireworks display Mail Online reports.
Describing the ceremony a source told the Plymouth Herald: "It was a beautiful ceremony, their vows were so brilliant and heartfelt. Tom and Lance organised the wedding themselves and it had their personalities stamped on every detail."
Tom's brother Will also shared a heartfelt message on tweet welcoming his new brother-in-law to the family.
The Olympic diver and the filmmaker were engaged in October 2015 and despite cheating allegations the pair, who have a 20-year age gap between them, have been together for four years.
