Torso suitcase murder: Vytautas Jokubauskas appears in court accused of killing Ramute Butkiene
A man has appeared in court accused of murdering a women whose torso was found inside a suitcase in Peterborough.
Vytautas Jokubauskas, 57, originally from Lithuania, has been charged with the murder of Ramute Butkiene, 42, who was found at a house in Mayor's Walk with no arms, legs or head.
The torso was found after tenants called police complaining of a "nasty smell".
Cambridgeshire Police said "some body parts" of the mother-of-one have been found, but searches are continuing for the remaining parts.
Speaking through a translator, Jokubauskas confirmed his name and date of birth when he appeared at magistrates in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.
He will next appear via video link at Cambridge Crown Court on 18 June.
A Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said: "The murder is being treated as an isolated incident and a dedicated team has been set up to investigate."
