Creative Assembly's next Total War game will make use of the Warhammer license.

Mentions of the game were discovered in an early copy of The Art of Total War, a yet-to-be-released art book by Martin Robinson.

In it Creative Assembly creative director Mike Simpson says his team are "taking the series to a fantasy setting with Total War: Warhammer."

References to the game were posted to a Total War fan forum by user StormOfRazors.

Creative Assembly's publisher Sega penned a deal for the studio to make multiple Warhammer games in 2012. Two and a half years on it appears the games' development is far enough along that it is almost ready to be revealed.

Last year Creative Assembly made Alien Isolation – a licensed first person horror game about as far removed from Total War's real time strategy genre as can be.

With Robinson's book set to go on sale by the end of the month, Sega and Creative Assembly were probably gearing up for an announcement at some point over the coming fortnight.
