Manchester City suffered their first defeat of the 2016/17 campaign after Tottenham Hotspur registered a 2-0 victory over Pep Guardiola's side at White Hart Lane on 2 October. After an impressive start to the season, City lost their first match under their new manager.

The Spaniard took charge at the Etihad in the summer after successful spells at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. After 10 consecutive wins in all competitions, the Premier League leaders were forced to come from behind on three occasions to settle for a 3-3 draw against Celtic in the Champions League clash.

It was followed by a defeat at the hands of the north London club in the league. An own goal from Aleksandar Kolarov in the ninth minute followed by Dele Alli's goal in the 30th minute were sufficient for Tottenham to seal three points.

Guardiola's first league defeat at Barcelona came against Espanyol, who was managed by Mauricio Pochettino. The Argentine got the better of the Catalan when his side faced City on Sunday.

Superbly executed by Tottenham, yet that Man City defeat has been coming. Defensively fragile; no referee to bail them out today. #TOTMCI

Spurs win over Man City doesn't mean Pep Guardiola isn't a good coach, it means pochettino is an underrated great coach #RESPECT #TOTMCI

Not a great week for Aleksandar Kolarov:

A bald manager at a top club started to get exposed in the past week and I'm not talking about Pep Guardiola.

Surprised Guardiola allowed Bravo to use his hands to save that penalty.

1 - Aleksandar Kolarov's own goal sees Manchester City trailing in a Premier League game for the first time under Pep Guardiola. Unfamiliar.
