Overview

Andre Villas-Boas's side topped the group table in the European competition after their 4-1 victory over Anzhi Makhachkala during the midweek Europa League fixture. Summer signing Roberto Soldado was the star player for the Spurs after the Spaniard struck a hat-trick against the Russian outfit.

The Spurs are seventh in the league table with 27 points from 15 games while Liverpool are fifth with 30 points. A win for the north London club at White Hart Lane could see them being level on points with the Reds.

Liverpool come into this game after their 4-1 win over West Ham United at Anfield in the last league game. In-form striker Luis Suarez struck twice for the Reds while Mamadou Sakho's striker and an own goal from Guy Demel Saw them seal a comfortable victory.

The Merseyside club have scored 17 goals in the last five league games and Rodgers would be hoping for his men to continue the same form against the Spurs on Sunday. However, Liverpool are without a win in their last four league games played away from home.

What Managers Say

Andre Villas-Boas: "Those results [against Fulham and Sunderland] have put us one point better off than what we had [at this stage] last season, so again it puts us back on track. We have this wonderful situation against Liverpool that if we win we go level on points with them, a team that has started so brilliantly."

Brendan Rodgers: "People look at Spurs and question how they've done but I think they've done terrifically. They have a strong and deep squad and they are right up there in the league. There are six or seven teams involved in the race for the top four."
