Overview
Tottenham saw their hopes of winning the title crushed when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham United in the last league clash. Chelsea clinched the title when they sealed a 1-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Friday.
The north London club are undefeated in the Premier League at home and the clash against the Red Devils will be their final match at White Hart Lane. They will bid farewell to their stadium that has been their home ground since 1899.
Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping that Tottenham can maintain their unbeaten run at home in the league intact on Sunday. Avoiding defeat at the hands of the Red Devils will help them achieve that feat.
United enter this tie after a 1-1 draw against Celta Vigo in the second leg of the Europa League semi-final. The English side progressed to the second tier of club competition after registering a 2-1 victory on aggregate.
The Red Devils have made it to the final and will face Stockholm on 24 May. A victory against the Dutch side will see them seal a berth in next season's Champions League as chances of a place in the top four finish look slim.
Jose Mourinho is expected to make several changes to his starting lineup against Tottenham. The Portuguese tactician will be pushing for three points and a win on Sunday could give them an outside chance of finishing in the top four.
What managers say
Mauricio Pochettino: "Of course they are trying to win the Europa League but the players on Sunday, of course they will try to do their best and win. don't believe it's the right moment to play them. They have a big squad. They can play Rashford, they can play Pogba, they can play Lingard, they can play Mkhitaryan. What changes? I know very well that Jose is a great tactician and a great coach. But we will be prepared to compete. It's always a good challenge to compete with one of the best managers in the world," Pochettino told the Mirror.
Jose Mourinho: "I have to give some minutes to everyone because we have only 15 players, so I have to play them. But I have to play them mixed. I have to play them by periods. And I don't have another solution. In the Premier League we can only finish fifth or sixth, I think. I don't think we can finish seventh and I don't think we can finish fourth. So fifth or sixth. We can win a trophy and by winning I have to give some minutes to everyone because we have only 15 players, so I have to play them. But I have to play them mixed," Mourinho was reported as saying by the Daily Mail.
