Tottenham Attempt to Lure Starlet Out of Bayern's Reach - Report
Bayern Munich will battle Tottenham Hotspur for the signature of Basel winger Mohamed Salah, according to reports in Germany.
The Egypt international was his side's stand out performer throughout the 2012/13 campaign and has maintained his scintillating form during this season, scoring twice against Chelsea in the Champions League to help his club record a memorable double over Jose Mourinho's side.
The 21-year-old's blossoming reputation across Europe has seen him heavily linked with a move to Tottenham, whom he also put to the sword during last season's Europa League.
The Mirror have suggested the club's technical director Franco Baldini has already been dispatched to enquire about a deal to bring the winger to White Hart Lane, but the club may have to act quickly with Bild suggesting Pep Guardiola has taken a liking to the Basel star.
While a January move is doubtful after Bayern explained the club are very unlikely to enter the transfer market during the winter window, the German newspaper suggests Guardiola has been greatly impressed with the marauding winger and may consider bringing him to the Allianz Arena in the near future.
Given his rise in profile Salah himself has recently spoken of the possibility of leaving the Swiss champions and narrowed his wish-list of clubs down to three, omitting both Bayern and Spurs from that list.
"I'm very proud to have scored goals against Chelsea," he said following his side's win at Stamford Bridge at the end of November.
"I want to play for one of the best teams in the world. My favourites are Real Madrid, Manchester United and Chelsea."
Tottenham meanwhile showed signs of getting their season back on track with a 2-1 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday night, their first Premier League win since 27 October, with Vlad Chiriches and Lewis Holtby providing the goals for Andre Villas-Boas' side.
