Tower Bridge: Police video shows vicious gang attack on 29-year-old man by London landmark
A video has been released showing a "vicious, cowardly and unprovoked attack" by a gang of men on a 29-year-old near London's iconic Tower Bridge.
The CCTV footage, released by City of London Police, shows the victim walking back from a wedding on 31 May when a group of 10 to 12 men surround him before one punches him in the back of the head. The others then swarm round the man and begin to kick and punch the him while he lies on the ground. After a minute the assault ends, with the group running off and two of the gang absconding on TFL bikes.
PC Oliver Gent, of City of London police, said: "A group of young men carried out a vicious, cowardly and unprovoked attack on a lone male minding his own business.
"The victim suffered several blows to the head and body and was lucky to walk away with only cuts and bruises. It is paramount that we catch those responsible as the group's next victim might end up with very serious injuries."
City of London Police described the men as Asian youths in their late teens to early 20s, all with East London accents. They have released the video in the hope that members of the general public might recognise the men and have asked to be contacted on 020 7601 2222 or to anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
