Trial of Slovakian model accused of killing British ex-boyfriend in Spain begins
The trial of a Slovakian model accused of shooting dead her British millionaire boyfriend in Spain has begun.
Mayka Marica Kukucova, 26, is alleged to have killed Andrew Bush, 48, at his home in the beach resort of Estepona in April, 2014. Bush owned several jewellery stores in Bristol before moving to Spain.
The trial started on Monday in Malaga, and is expected to last three days.
Prosecutors allege that Kukucova shot him three times, shortly after they broke up when he returned home with his new Russian girlfriend. They are demanding a 20 year sentence.
Kukocova's lawyer claims that Bush confronted her with a gun, they struggled, and it went off, Diario Sur reported. She fled to Slovakia after the incident where she handed herself in to authorities.
Bush's sister and niece were present in the courtroom, as well his Russian girlfriend, Maria Korotaeva, AP reported. Kukucova's parents were also present.
