The 45-year-old actor praised the show creator and hinted that the characters this time will be very complicated.
"The writer and creator of [the show] is just tremendous, Nick Pizzolatto, and he's the writer of this one as well, and it's been a lot of fun. The characters are very interesting, very complicated."

"There is a lot of plot development, and different webs to follow. I hope people like it, I loved doing it," McAdams told Belfast Telegraph.
According to the leaked plot synopsis, Colin Farrell's character Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective will join detective Ani to solve a murder mystery.

The detective duo will find out that the murdered victim had a penchant for rough sex and may have been involved in the occult.
Farrell hints that after episode 3 of the second season, fans will be hooked to the series for its powerful story line.
"That's the great thing about the show," Farrell told Glamour Magazine. "By episode three, you don't give a fuck who killed who. It's just a hook, a canvas, for everything else."
