Trump explains the 'cray' reason he wants his Mexico wall needs to be 'see through'
Apparently, Trump does want some transparency.
Donald Trump is going ahead with his border wall between the United States and Mexico - and if he gets his way, it is going to be transparent.
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One on his way to Paris on Wednesday, the US President explained exactly how his "see through" wall would work.
"One of the things with the wall is you need transparency," he said.
"You have to be able to see through it. In other words, if you can't see through that wall — so it could be a steel wall with openings, but you have to have openings because you have to see what's on the other side of the wall."
And the reason he needs the wall to be transparent? To tackle drug trafficking across the southern border.
"As horrible as it sounds, when they throw the large sacks of drugs over, and if you have people on the other side of the wall, you don't see them -- they hit you on the head with 60 pounds of stuff? It's over.
"As cray as that sounds, you need transparency through that wall. But we have some incredible designs," Trump said.
He also maintained he would install solar panels on the wall to potentially help cover the cost.
"There is a chance that we can do a solar wall. We have major companies looking at that," he said.
"Look, there's no better place for solar than the Mexico border -- the southern border. And there is a very good chance we can do a solar wall, which would actually look good. But there is a very good chance we could do a solar wall."
Earlier this week, members of Congress released a bill which would allocate funds to start the construction of the wall. The House Appropriations Committee released the bill which would allow for $1.6bn of funds to kickstart one of Trump's flagship policies.
