Trump is a 'sore loser' says Clinton
Claims of rigged election are 'horrifying' says Democratic nominee.
Donald Trump's claims that the US election is rigged are "horrifying", said Hillary Clinton at a campaign stop on Sunday, also calling the Republican nominee a "sore loser." Trump has repeatedly claimed over the past couple weeks that the election is "rigged."
Asked if he would accept a Clinton win during the final presidential debate last Wednesday (19 October), Trump said: "I will look at it at the time", and "I'll keep you in suspense". A day later he joked he will "totally accept the results ... if I win".
Without providing evidence Trump has said that votes for him will be suppressed at polling stations throughout the US.
"He said something that no presidential nominee has ever said. Democrat or Republican," Clinton told a rally in Raleigh, North Carolina. "He refused to say that he would respect the results of this election. And that is a threat to democracy."
She called Trump a "sore loser" the same day at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
"The peaceful transfer of power is one of the things that makes America America," Clinton said to her Raleigh supporters. "People of courage and principles need to come together to reject his dangerous and divisive agenda."
Polls show Trump lagging behind Clinton. One even shows her with an 11-point lead over the Republican. Trump's son, Eric, said on Sunday (23 October) that his father will "absolutely accept" the result "if it's a fair outcome".
The Republican nominee claims that the media has conspired against him by airing the allegations of sexual misconduct made against him by nearly a dozen women.
In Raleigh Clinton emphasised that the media isn't soft on her either. Leaks from the Democratic National Committee, the hacked email address of her campaign chair, and other emails published from her private server have all received intense scrutiny.
Before the final debate conservative talk show host and Fox pundit Bill O'Reilly called Trump's claims the election is rigged "whining" in an interview with The Late Show's Stephen Colbert.
