Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is in the final stages of discussion with NATO about getting access to advanced Patriot missile system which would be used to defend its 560 mile border against Syrian attacks. After a number of mortar rounds landed in Turkish territory killing Turkish nationals. Which, has led to fears that the Syrian conflict is now spreading to other regions.
The Turkish Minister said an agreement had been reached.
The German envoy to NATO Minister Westerwelle has agreed that Turkey can use patriot missiles.
Only the United States, the Netherlands and Germany have the appropriate Patriot missile system available. And it is believed that this use of patriot missiles will up the ante against the Assad regime, who rely on superior fire and air power over rebel fighters.
