Ubisoft Confirms Far Cry 4 Launching in November with Elephants
Ubisoft has confirmed that Far Cry 4 will be launched in the UK this November on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
Confirmed in a Ubisoft financial report for the fiscal year, details about the much anticipated titled beyond launch dates and confirmed platforms are still emerging.
In a statement, Ubisoft set out its vision for Far Cry 4:
"In Far Cry 4, players find themselves in Kyrat, a breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king. Using a vast array of weapons, vehicles, and animals, players will write their own story across an exotic open-world landscape."
Speaking to GameSpot, executive producer Dan Hay said: "Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans' expectations. Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we're eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months."
The financial report said Far Cry 4 would be one of the company's five big titles for the coming year: "The year's performance will be led by five games. Assassin's Creed Unity, Far Cry 4, Just Dance, The Crew and Watch Dogs."
The franchise's previous instalment, Far Cry 3, which was launched in November last year has sold over six million units, with a spin-off entitled Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon selling in excess of one million copies.
Far Cry is a first-person shooter franchise first published in 2004. Previous instalments of the series, including Far Cry 3 were set on topical islands and exotic sun-kissed locations, meaning the move to the Himalayas mark a major shift in location for the series.
the company has also revealed that if you pre-order the game you will receive a limited edition of the game including Hurk's Redemption, a three-part single-player mission pack featuring the character Hurk from Far Cry 3.
You will also receive Hurk's main weapon, the harpoon gun called The Impaler as part of the deal.
Ubisoft is holding a press conference at games conference E3 next month, when it is expected to reveal more details of the game.
