UK: Police appeal for mother who left newborn baby in hospital
Police have appealed for information about a woman who left her baby in hospital shortly after giving birth. 35-year-old Anna Chudy left Northwick Park Hospital in Harrow on 16 October at around 10:30 BST having given birth via caesarean section to a "healthy baby boy" a day earlier.
CCTV images show the 35-year-old leaving the Accident and Emergency department in the company of an unidentified male. The man is described as white, with short dark brown hair and tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a black leather jacket with patches on the elbow and dark trousers.
A spokesperson for the hospital said if the baby is left for more than three days, it will be referred to the local authorities Sky News reports. Officers said they are concerned for the welfare of the mother. Detective Sergeant Adrian Smith said: "This is a vulnerable woman who needs to be located as soon as possible so she can be reunited with her baby boy.
"We are not looking to trace her with the intention of pursuing any criminal matters against her, our only concern is her safe return. It is of paramount importance that anyone who has any information about her whereabouts contacts us immediately."
Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
