US Department of Justice drops phone hacking case against Newscorp and 21st Century Fox
The US Department of Justice has decided not to prosecute Rupert Murdoch's empire, Newscorp and 21st Century Fox, after completing a raft of investigations into UK phone hacking and bribery scandals.
According to a regulatory filing in the US, the government notified the Murdoch-owned groups on 28 January of its intentions, after raking through thousands of emails on Newscorp servers.
However, there are currently multiple ongoing investigations and and court cases related to phone hacking and bribery cases occurring in Britain still.
Multiple investigations and court cases from UK and US authorities centre around 2011 phone hacking and bribery charges involving Murdoch's now-defunct British newspaper, News of the World.
