US Open 2015: Andy Murray drawn against Nick Kyrgios in opening round at Flushing Meadows
Andy Murray has been drawn against Nick Kyrgios in the opening round of the US Open. Kyrgios, 20, was recently fined £6,350 after making insulting remarks about Stanislas Wawrinka's girlfriend Donna Vekic during a recent match at the Montreal Masters and faces a one-month ban should he breach ATP behavioural standards within the next six months.
Third seed Murray has met the fiery Australian twice this year already, beating him at both the Australian and French Open without dropping a set in both encounters.The Brit could go onto meet second seed Roger Federer, whom he beat to win his first grand slam at Flushing Meadows in 2012, in the semi-final.
Elsewhere, world number one Novak Djokovic has been drawn against Brazil's Joao Souza in his first round match. Serena Williams, chasing a clean sweep of 2015's major championships, will begin her campaign against Vitalia Diatchenko of Russia. Federer faces world No. 33 Leonardo Mayer of Argentina in his opening round match.
James Ward will begin his campaign against the 30th seed, Brazil's Thomaz Bellucci, while British number two Aljaz Bedene has been drawn against Latvian Ernests Gulbis. The US Open beings on Monday 31 August.
