Police are responding to a shooting incident at the Savannah State University (SSU) campus. The university has been locked down by security forces but details are not yet available.
At least one person has been injured in the shooting and is being taken to hospital, local reports said. Students have been warned to stay indoors until the lockdown is lifted. The alert message sent by the historically black university reads: "SSU campus on lockdown. SSU officers investigating a shooting incident near the Student Union. Stay in place. Cooperate with officers, other personnel".
