US: Teenager charged with first-degree murder after killing his father with a crossbow
A Delaware teenager has been charged with first-degree murder after he killed his father with a crossbow.
17-year-old Seth H. Ramsey reportedly shot Todd Ramsey, 41, after getting caught skipping school.
He shot his father once in the abdomen with a single arrow.
Officers in Harrington went to the family home to check on his father, after co-workers became concerned after he failed to turn up for work on two consecutive days.
When police arrived at the family home, the teenager confessed to killing his father who was found dead in the bedroom. Seth Ramsey was immediately taken into custody.
According to an affidavit: "He said that his father was in his bedroom from 2pm to 5pm. Seth said that he knew when his father came out he would be mad so he shot him."
It is unclear if anyone else lived with them at the address, or if anyone else was in the house at the time of the incident.
Seth has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a felony. He is being held at a juvenile detention facility without bail.
Seth was a student at Lake Forest High School in Harrington, Delaware.
The father and son shared photos of themselves playing baseball together on Facebook.
