Usain Bolt wins historic 100m gold at Rio 2016 Olympics: Twitter reacts after Jamaican creates history
The Jamaican becomes the first athlete to win three consecutive gold medals in the same event.
Usain Bolt confirmed his status as one of the greatest athletes of the world, winning his third consecutive 100m Olympic race at Rio thereby creating history by becoming the first man to do so.
The Jamaican who became the first athlete to win three consecutive gold medals in the same event finished with a time of 9.81 seconds while American Justin Gatlin came in second with time of 9.89 seconds with Canada's Neil DeGrasse rounding up the top three.
Bolt has now seven gold medals at the Olympics, with him securing a treble of 100m, 200m and 4X100m golds in 2008 and 2012. The Jamaican sprinter will be looking to win those events next week and register and unprecedented "treble treble."
