Bonnie has saved Damon Salvatore on multiple occasions but now it is his turn to help the Bennett witch in The Vampire Diaries' season 7 finale. The episode is titled Gods And Monsters, and will air on 13 May on The CW network.

After Rayna passed on her huntress curse, there is only one way for Bonnie to survive — to recover the body of Everlasting from the Armory and transfer the curse. The elder Salvatore brother takes the charge to crack open the vault but the job won't be easy as Bonnie has locked it with a magic spell.

But Stefan will find a solution as according to the official synopsis he will break "the news to Caroline that they may need help from an unlikely source - her and Alaric's twin daughters." And the promo released by CW states that the vampires will finally be able to break the vault enabling Damon to enter inside.

The Armory is infamous for the evils residing inside and given the elder Salvatore vampire's fragile nature, it is quite possible that he will see things that will delay Bonnie's rescue mission. The finale promo hints at a shocking character's re-entry as Damon sees Elena inside the vault. It is possible that this is just Damon's hallucination. But the Dalena scene might play a key role in the Bennett witch's survival, and perhaps this is where his "great sacrifice" will materialize.

Despite their best efforts to help Bonnie (Kat Graham) through the harrowing predicament she now faces, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), Enzo (Michael Malarkey) and Caroline (Candice King) realize their options are running out and drastic measures need to be taken. With their only chance of saving their friend lying inside the Armory, Stefan (Paul Wesley) breaks the news to Caroline that they may need help from an unlikely source - her and Alaric's twin daughters. Elsewhere, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) keeps Bonnie preoccupied with bringing her back to their cabin but when his plan takes an unexpected turn, it'll be up to Damon to make the ultimate sacrifice to save his closest friends.
