Vampire Diaries season 7 premiere plot: Damon turns big bad villain after Elena's deep slumber?
The Vampire Diaries season 7 will premiere in the fall this year and fans of the CW supernatural thriller will surely miss Elena Gilbert romancing Damon Salvatore on the show.
After Kai's devastating return to Mystic Falls in season 6, numerous people were killed, including Jo and her unborn babies.
The season 6 finale of TVD ended on an emotional note after Kai's curse left Elena in deep sleep (she may sleep for 60 years) and her life has been linked to Bonnie's.
If the Bennett witch dies than Damon's love will wake up but if Bonnie's alive, Elena will not wake up.
While Damon will find it difficult to live without Elena, his frustration could see him turn into the big bad villain of Mystic Falls all over again.
Show runner Julie Plec has hinted that the elder Salvatore vampire will go back to his season 1 character which will be the plot of TVD season 7.
"Actually... let us take Damon down a different road and have more fun with his character and [get back to] that season 1 Damon that everybody loved so much and that Ian Somerhalder himself loved so much," Plec told Entertainment Weekly.
Meanwhile, Inquisitr speculates that romance between Bonnie and the elder Salvatore brother could bloom in season 7, as she is the only one after Elena, who can bring Damon back to being a completely different person.
The season 6 finale also gave some subtle hints on what fans could expect when the show returns.
"The last two scenes of the finale truly depict where the show is going [in season 7]," Ian Somerhalder told People.
Somerhalder also promised: "[The show would be] Volatile, sexy – stuff that we all fell in love with. Season 1 and 2 of the show were so dark. It was awesome."
Meanwhile, Plec has made it clear that TVD will not end with the seventh season and revealed that they will explore mythology to add a sparkling change to the show.
"There's a whole new mythology that we have teed up. We even have a pitch for how season 7 can launch us into season 8. So in spite of the grief that I'm getting and some people's extremely vehement opinions that the show cannot and should not continue without her, emotionally I wish we still had her, but creatively I do feel like there's an absolute ton of story left to tell and a lot of really terrific actors and characters that we love who are willing to stay to do it."
Vampire Diaries season 7 will premiere in the fall this year.
