The Vampire Diaries stars Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev win top TV duo at People's Choice Awards amid feud rumours
Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev may be having several personal issues, but the Vampire Diaries couple managed to win the the title of the Favorite TV Duo at the People's Choice Awards 2015.
The couple beat David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel (Bones), Ginnifer Goodwin and Josh Dallas (Once Upon a Time), Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) and Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic (Castle) in the catagory.
The on-screen couple had dated for many years in real life, but after their breakup, there were many issues for The Vampire Diaries show.
There are reports that the former couple had asked the show's producers to give them less screen space on the show.
According to a report in Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the writers have reportedly tried their best to keep Nina's character, Elena Gilbert, and Ian's character, Damon Salvatore, apart following requests from the actors.
"It's next to impossible to fake chemistry with someone you hate, although that hate sometimes comes across as a fiery passion on screen", the report said.
Thus, in the mid-season finale episode of The Vampire Diaires we saw Kai taking Elena to prison by casting a clock spell, and preventing Elena from getting back together with Damon.
Earlier, Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed who continue to spend time together, were spotted holidaying in Sun Valley, Idaho. The 36-year-old actor was seen at the Humane Society of the United States' Proposition 2 celebration with his girlfriend Nikki Reed in Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, Nina Dobrev was spotted enjoying a holiday with friends in New Zealand. The 25-year-old actress including hairstylist Riawna Capri, and her pals Morgan and Ash, headed off to New Zealand.
She had also posted several pictures of her vacation on whosay.com.
