Vermaelen the Gunner Fires at Both Ends: Arsenal-Fulham1-1 [PHOTOS]
It was a strange destiny that Thomas Vermaelen had to confront on Saturday night.
In a rare spectacle of sorts, the Belgian scored at both ends when his side confronted Fulham in the Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners had to settle for a 1-1 draw with the visitors.
The first breakthrough came in favour of Fulham on 65 minutes when Vermaelen fired into his own net. But he redeemed himself later when nodding in from close range with seven minutes left. The game has thus ended up as a virtual one-man show.
The frustrating draw has also ended the Gunners' winning spree and given a breather to the visitors who had not won at Arsenal in 25 attempts. Robin van Persie too failed to add to his 13 League goals this season.
